Do you want to shorten the cordless blinds of your window? Cordless blinds indeed provide an effortless way to control the lightening and privacy of your home. Even you can fix your cordless mini blinds yourself at home. There is a possibility that the cordless blinds you bought may be longer than the size of your window. Do not fret because we have a solution for you to adjust your cordless blinds according to the length of your window.
Follow the below steps to shorten cordless blinds without cutting it.
1. Gather the Tools
The tools that you will need for this project are a good cutter, a pair of scissors, a flat head screwdriver, and a sticky note.
2. Count the Slats
Count the slats (excluding the last slat) from the end of the rail to the end of the window and mark the slat with a sticky note to know when to stop removing the slats.
3. Remove the plugs
At the bottom of the last slat, you will found three or four white round colour plugs. Remove them with the help of the flathead screwdriver or fingernails. Do not lose the plugs.
4. Cut the slats
There will be three or four holes in each slat from where cords are passed through. Cut the slat with the cutter in a straight line from the front side of the slat to the hole of the cord. This way, cords can be released from the hole. It means you need to do 4 cuts if you have 4 cords or 3 if you have 3 cords. Release the cords and pull the slat out from the side. Be careful while cutting. Please do not cut the cord as it will ruin the rail.
Repeat the same process for all the slats that you want to remove. Start cutting the slats beneath the slat you wish to keep. Do not remove the last slat. Remember, your cutter is strong enough to cut them smoothly.
5. Cut cords
After removing the required slats, raise the slats and then pull them down. This will show you that it works still fine.
However, there will be extra cords which will give a messy look, so you have to cut them. You will see a ladder pattern of the cords from where you pulled out the slats. Excluding the top horizontal ladder cord, cut all other from the edges. Now leaving 3-inch cord cut the rest of the vertical cord line.
6. Tie the knot
After cutting the cord, tie a simple knot at the end of the vertical cords under the bottom slat. You have to put the knot and the rest of the cord in the bottom hole of the last slat. You can put it with the help of your finger or with a stylus or pencil.
7. Fix the plug back
After putting the cord knot in the hole, put the plug back on, which you removed earlier.
